American Airlines To Begin Daily Brisbane Flights
American Airlines will begin daily flights between Brisbane and Dallas Fort Worth. The oneworld member and also Qantas partner will bring even more competition to the market.

American Airlines will begin daily flights between Brisbane and Dallas Fort Worth from October 27, 2024. The oneworld member and also Qantas partner will bring even more competition to the market, with Turkish Airlines also recently announcing it will begin flights to Australia from 1 March (read more about that here).

The new route will connect the two cities from October through the winter travel season, with it being the longest nonstop flight in the airline’s network by distance, averaging around 15 hours from gate-to-gate.

While American Airlines already offers flights to Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland through direct flights and its partnership with Australian flag carrier Qantas, Brisbane has remained underserved. Services to Brisbane are currently offered by Air Canada to Vancouver, Qantas to Los Angeles and United Airlines to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The new route is set to increase connectivity between North America and Oceania. In a statement shared by the airline on Thursday, American Airlines Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, Brian Znotins explained that “American is thrilled to grow our international network to give customers more ways to escape the cold next winter. Together with Qantas, customers can enjoy more ways to explore new destinations across one of the most comprehensive networks connecting the United States and the South Pacific.”

American Airlines Business Class Offering

American Airlines will be deploying its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, equipped with its Business Class Flagship Suite and Premium Economy seating. Each of the 51 Business Class suites offer a fully flat bed, sliding door, additional storage space, plus charging options including USB-C and wireless charging. The interiors on these new jets are a huge improvement over what American Airlines is currently offering.

Specifically, these 787-9s will feature 244 seats, including 51 Business Class seats, 32 Premium Economy seats, 18 extra legroom Economy seats, and 143 Economy seats.

Summary

Being American Airlines longest route, it will also be served by a brand new premium configured Boeing 787-9, with new interiors, including Business Class suites. Tickets are expected to go on sale Monday 5 February, with the service timetable yet to be released.
