On a trip from Tokyo to London, we flew ANA 777-300ER Business Class, which gave us the opportunity to review the very distinctive ‘The Room’ product.
This flight was a part of an ANA Business Class return journey, taking us from Sydney to London and then flying home from Frankfurt.
Boarding around 10am, we had a long-haul day flight ahead of us and being the second flight of our journey, the 14h and 25 min trip meant we were really able to take in all that ANA Business Class had to offer.
The ANA 777-300ER Business Class cabin has a total of 64 seats configured into a 1-2-1 layout allowing every passenger direct access to the aisle. ANA 777-300ER Business Class has Kengo Juma and Acumen designed Safran Fusio seats, with an alternating front and rear facing pattern.
We were seated in the forward facing 2 seat segment, which is what we’d recommend if you’re flying as a couple - unless you wish to get some peace and quiet from your spouse or business partner!
Our first initial thoughts of ANA 777-300ER Business Class were that they were incredibly large seats. So much so, that we would rank it as one of the bigger products offered in the Business Class market - almost akin size wise to First Class.
ANA’s ‘The Room’ adopted closely from the renowned Qatar Qsuites, has a privacy door, personal closet, storage cubby and self-contained shell seat. The sliding door was a personal favourite - giving us that First Class feel of increased privacy.
We found that due to the size of the seat, the footwell was quite large and good length when converted to a Flat Bed for those 6ft and under. The only inconvenience was that we are actually above 6ft, and so to sleep comfortably, laying at an angle in the seat was necessary to fit.
One downside to ‘The Room’ is the lack of available seat storage. Despite the ANA 777-300ER Business Class cabin providing large overhead bins, there isn’t much storage space around the seat which can be a nuisance in-flight - having to get up and down to grab larger, bulkier items out of the overhead.
There is a small flat cupboard next to the seat’s inflight screen which has room for necessities such as your phone, passport and other smaller and flatter items. This cupboard panel also has a Universal AC socket and USB-A power outlet.
An additional table space is provided which is a good spot to leave your headphones, drink and any other random items you bring along with you for long-haul flights.
ANA 777-300ER Business Class seat provides a 24 inch 4K UHD touchscreen display which is a nice modern feature.
When comparing onboard entertainment with ANA to the rest of the Business Class product on the market - it is generally lacking.
The overall selection is a much smaller portion of what you may find on other carriers with the majority of the content catered to the Japanese market. However, the small amount of content that is provided is still good up to date content for passengers.
Passengers are provided with a Nishikawa Air Cycle bed pad, which has won the 2012 Good Design Award. Made up of 96% air, offered a supportive and comfortable sleep during our long-haul journey.
We were also given a down-comforter (blanket) and a dual-layer designed pillow built with high-quality feathers and polyurethane foam.
ANA’s Business Class amenity kits are provided in an ANA Original ETTINGER Pouch filled with AVEDA lip balm and Shampure body lotion, ANA original reusable bag as well as standard toiletry amenities.
We had an overall really pleasant dining experience onboard ANA 777-300ER Business Class. We found the onboard service impeccable with staff continuously offering more to make sure our journey was as comfortable as possible.
Given a choice between a Western or Japanese menu (with small crossover with side dishes), we liked the range of options we were presented with. Despite not being a seafood lover, we still opted for the seafood-heavy Japanese menu to get the full experience and were actually delighted with each dish served.
Prior to takeoff, we were offered sparkling wine or orange juice and opted for orange juice given the time in the day. Our beverage came with a fondant biscuit which was delicious - and a must try.
Once in the air, the full service began. Overall the meals were very tasty and for someone who doesn’t eat much seafood - the dishes were great. Passengers can pre-order meal service further elevating the inflight dining experience for ANA Business Class passengers.
Another highlight was the on demand menu - this was fantastic and the in-flight Ramen Noodle service is delicious.

Dining was a highlight, with impeccable service and delicious options from both Japanese and Western menu, complimented by a fantastic on-demand ramen service.
