Lufthansa A350 Business Class Review
After flying from Australia to Singapore with Singapore Airlines, and spending a few hours in Singapore Airlines Changi business class lounge, we continued our round the world trip, boarding our Lufthansa flight to Munich, Germany.

After flying from Australia to Singapore with Singapore Airlines, and spending a few hours in Singapore Airlines Changi business class lounge, we continued our round the world trip, boarding our Lufthansa flight to Munich, Germany.

Changi Airport is regularly topping the List of the worlds best airports, its well signposted and easy to navigate, but it's also a behemoth so make sure you allow plenty of time to make your way from the lounge to your gate. Don't forget you'll also have tdo clear security/passport control at your gate before you can board.

Flying on the 10:15pm Lufthansa flight to Munich, everyone was very keen to get onboard and settled as soon as possible. The A350 business class cabin is split into two sections, the first section consists of 6 rows and the second much smaller cabin is just 2 rows.

The second business class cabin consists of just 2 rows.

The cabin is configured in a 2-2-2 configuration with the window seats being particularly private and cosy, but best reserved for 2 passengers travelling together. Especially on night flights, as with the beds reclined the window passenger needs to climb over the bed of their travel partner to access the aisle.

The seats are well equipped with a plenty of storage options. Two compartments underneath the screen hold water bottles, magazines etc and your amenity kit. Tucked under the arm of your seat is a compartment containing your noise cancelling headphones, and there is enough room under your footrest for a handbag/small travel bag.

The seat control is on top of your side table, you can convert your seat to a fully flat bed or a 'relaxed position' at the touch of a button, as well adjust individual parts of the seat to your liking. you can also adjust the cushion firmness.

There is a small permanent side table/armrest between the two seats, the top of which lifts up to reveal your table and entertainment control.

The entertainment system featured a wide selection of TV and Movies, ad the screen itself slides out over your bed for optimum viewing position.

The seat has a built in adjustable reading light, and waiting in the storage pocket was a pair of slippers and an amenity kit filled with essentials for the flight including an eye mask, toothbrush and cosmetic products.

As we settled into our seats we were offered a welcome drink, including the option for a glass of Piper Heidsieck champagne to enjoy while the remainder of the plane boards.

Menus were handed out and our dinner orders were taken soon after take off. Given the late night time of the flight, an option of an express service was available, skipping the hot main course, although I noticed not many people took up that option. With a 13 hour flight ahead of us I guess no one was in a hurry.

I started with a grilled melon and shaved parmesan salad, followed by Cod served with mashed potato and ratatouille. A range of beverages including a selection of French wines were served with dinner. After dinner, a selection of cheese, dessert and fruit were offered. I opted for the fresh fruit salad and was pleasantly surprised with a tasty selection of tropical fruit.

Following dinner I decided to convert my seat to a bed and settle in for the night. The bed is 20inches wide and close to 2 metres long and feels roomy enough. The foot space is slightly narrowed but not as narrow as other business class flat beds on the market. The front row seats have a wider foot space, which is built into the bulkhead.

The footrest narrows at the end of the bed.

The sleeping position is also straight, rather than having to lie on an angle making for a comfortable night's sleep. Lufthansa have since launched a 'Dream Collection' which includes a mattress topper, new warmer blanket, new pillow case, and a sleep shirt, making for an even more comfortable sleep.

After 7+ hours sleep I woke with just a couple of hours to go. Breakfast was served which included fruit, an omelette with chicken sausage and a very European smoked salmon/gravlax style dish which was delicious and very fresh, perfect for the start of the day.

Overall the Lufthansa flight was very comfortable. The second smaller cabin is the pick of the 2, you do need to wait for the rest of the plane to board and walk past your seat, but once settled in the space is small and intimate. The service from all of the Lufthansa staff was efficient and warm, and the bed is good enough to sleep for hours.
