Singapore Airlines Business Class Lounge Sydney Review
While travelling through Sydney Airport, our Marketing Assistant, Harriet, visited the recently refurbished Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge.

Having read about the recent renovations to the Sydney SilverKris Lounge I was looking forward to visiting before I flew with the airline on their A380 in Business Class. Located on level 3 in Terminal 1, the lounge is open daily from 5:30am to 6:00pm and available for all Singapore Airlines Business Class and First Class passengers as well as eligible Star Alliance members and partner airline passengers.

I visited the lounge around 9:30am, and after being welcomed by the friendly staff, I noticed how peaceful the lounge was. Next to the entrance is a small lounge area set up like a small living room with artwork and comfortable furnishings. This looked like a nice, quiet area to work or relax. As I moved further into the lounge, it got busier, but the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, thanks to the decor inspired by residential interiors in line with the other Singapore lounges.

Lounge Layout

The lounge is on the smaller side, with one main area and different seating zones, which are identified by the different seat types. There were mostly lounge chairs that faced the floor-to-ceiling windows, but there was also a bank of private workstations and a small dining area. Around the corner was another dining area with bar seating facing the runway.

Off to the side of the lounge was the open bar, buffet, and coffee station, allowing guests to move in and out with ease. When I arrived at the lounge the only seating available was in the dining area but this cleared out quickly after the Singapore Airlines morning flight.

Showers

The SilverKris Lounge also features shower suites. I was surprised by the size of the showers and the amenities available. The shower was spacious and included body wash, and hair products. Other amenities in the Shower Suite included a hairdryer, toothbrushes, and moisturiser. The room looked dishevelled but was still clean and had everything I needed.

Dining

After my 6:00am flight from Adelaide to Sydney, I was happy to see the barista making coffee to order! After putting in my order I was excited to scope out the dining options. Being the morning it was mostly generic breakfast items: eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal, muffins, pastries, toast, and a few Asian dishes, alongside accompaniments such as spreads and jams.

In the same small food area was the self-serve bar - the range available was impressive: Mumm Champagne, Penfolds and Hentley Farm wines, a selection of spirits, multiple beer options, juice, soft drinks, and a range of teas. For breakfast, I chose a selection of pastries, including a chocolate croissant and a Danish which were tasty.

I also had some sourdough toast that was nice to see in the selection of bread but didn’t fully fit into the toaster, but was still delicious with some Beerenberg Jam. By the time I had sorted out my breakfast, my coffee was ready. They called out my name to collect, but I think this was because they had a rush of coffee orders around the same time. If the lounge was quieter I think they would have delivered it to me.

Final Impressions

I found the lounge layout to be a bit cramped, given it has just undergone a refurbishment. There was a seating area close to the entry that no one was utilising, and then there was a very crowded main lounge area. But this depends on when you visit, after the earlier Singapore Airlines flight there was a lot more space.

Next time I visit, I don’t think I will go straight to the lounge but look around the shops at the airport then make my way to the lounge. Besides this, the lounge was a good place to escape the busy airport and had a good selection of food and beverages and excellent coffee!
