Singapore Airlines has announced this week plans to update their First and Business Class cabins on the A350 after facing further delays in the arrival of its new Boeing 777-9 fleet. The airline will now launch the proposed 777 First and Business Class suites on its A350s as part of an SGD$1.1bn upgrade.
Following the trend of other airlines, the new suites will be private, with doors that passengers can close to create a private space while travelling. The new seats will first be fitted on the ultra-long-range A350, which flies the marathon non-stop route between Singapore and New York; this plan, in particular, will add four exclusive First Class seats to the front of the plane. Teasers from Singapore Airlines hint at a high-end finish featuring shuttered doors in warm copper colouring, which will open to a spacious suite with three A350 windows, electronic blinds, and a very large entertainment screen.
Singapore Airlines will upgrade the current A350 Business Class seats, which first debuted in 2013. Although revolutionary at the time, they have now become dated compared to newer Business Class seats and suites. The airline says the new A350 First and Business Class products have been designed from the ground up, with a spacious layout and ergonomic elements that cater to every customer’s needs.
Singapore Airlines CEO says the new cabin upgrades have been developed over the past six years, with extensive engagement and feedback from customers and stakeholders regarding the new design. “The new First Class and Business Class seat designs will incorporate thoughtful elements that push the boundaries of comfort, luxury, and modernity, allowing our customers to relax or work effortlessly on board.”
The first of the upgraded long-range A350s is expected to take flight in mid-2026. The entire program is targeted for completion by the end of 2030.
