We checked in to the SWISS First Class Lounge in Zurich Airport while in transit with SWISS Airlines, your first class lounge experience starts from the moment you land with a direct transfer from the plane to the entrance of the lounge.
After passing through a dedicated passport control you are directed down a corridor straight to the first class lounge. With just 8 First Class passengers onboard the Swiss Air Lines 777, this is a very smooth and speedy process.
Once inside, the lounge is split into various zones. Although not a huge space, the area is beautifully designed and the space is used well. A fully stocked bar with plenty of top-shelf spirits as well as a range of beer, wine, soft drinks and barista made coffee is the centre feature of the lounge.
The lounge highlights Swiss design with sleek but welcoming furnishings. Surrounding the bar is the dining area with a variety of dining table options. The tables are luxuriously laid with full silverware and a full A la Carte menu is available to order from should you want a sit-down meal.
If you have a shorter transit or are not after a full meal, a variety of snacks and a candy bar are available to help your self to as well as some buffet platters which the bar staff will happily serve for you. The food in the buffet platters changes depending on the time of day when we were in the lounge a range of cold meats and cheeses were available, which were perfect to nibble on with an afternoon drink.
Beyond the bar and dining area is a range of lounge seating, arranged in various formations to cater for different sized groups. A row of clever TV rooms behind a screen is a nice touch.
Work pods are also available for anyone wanting to work in privacy, along with a relaxation room which provides a quiet zone set with reclining loungers to relax or even nap in.
The first class lounge is also equipped with 6 Showers suites. After flying from LA to Zurich we were ready to freshen up before our onward flight. Access to the showers is provided by the front desk assistants, in our case there was no wait and we were immediately allocated a suite and provided with a key. The shower suites feature a rainfall shower and stylish decor along with a First Class amenity kit packed with luxury skin and hair care products.
Overall the SWISS First Class lounge is a lovely place to rest and refresh before your onward flight. Being in the Schengen area of the Airport for connections within Europe, the lounge is smaller and with fewer facilities than the SWISS First Class lounge in the E section of the airport however there is plenty here to keep you entertained, and given the smaller number of people flying first class, the lounge does not feel cramped or overcrowded.
