Would You Pay an Extra $1,000 to Choose Your Business Class Seat?
Business Class seats are becoming more advanced, with larger seats that convert to fully flat beds, suites that are fitted with privacy doors, as well as your own wardrobe in some cabins. But would you pay an extra $1,000 per sector to allocate your Business Class seat?

Business Class seats are becoming more advanced, with larger seats that convert to fully flat beds, suites that are fitted with privacy doors, as well as your own wardrobe in some cabins.

But would you pay an extra $1,000 AUD per sector to allocate your Business Class seat?

Lufthansa certainly hopes so. With only 12 of their new ‘Allegris’ Business Class seats available to select free of charge, there are 4 other different seat types that are going to cost you.

What Is Lufthansa’s Allegris Cabin?

The Lufthansa Allegris cabin is a completely new travel experience created specifically for long-haul routes. With upgrades being applied to Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class, passengers will be given a high-quality product that is unparalleled in the market.

Business Class guests will look forward to five seat options available, all with heating and cooling seat surfaces, shoulder sink-in, a wireless charging module and your own devices to be connected to the entertainment system via Bluetooth.

Travellers can choose between the traditional Classic Seat, as well as four other options, whether you’re after an entire suite for yourself and your partner, an extra long bed measuring 2.2 metres, extra space and work area or an ultra-private seat by the window- the choice is yours. A privacy seat with a baby bassinet is also available for guests.

The airline has revealed that from March 30 2025, passengers will be able to make special seat assignments on select flights. This will conclude the airline’s ‘introductory period’ of the cabin. The first flights available for paid Allegris seat selection will be Munich to Shanghai, San Francisco and Chicago, with additional routes joining in the coming weeks and months.

Travellers will have to pay for the Business Class Suite, the Privacy Seat, the Extra Long Bed Seat and the Extra Space Seat, with long haul prices starting at $178 USD, ranging to $630 USD for one person on one sector of a flight. With a return flight, this could set you back an extra $2,000 AUD.

All Classic Seats onboard the Lufthansa Allegris will be at no additional cost.
