Asiana Airlines Launches Melbourne-Seoul Route
Asiana Airlines has announced an exciting development for travellers, launching seasonal flights between Melbourne and Seoul.

Asiana Airlines has announced an exciting development for travellers, launching seasonal flights between Melbourne and Seoul. Asiana Airlines direct service is scheduled to operate every Tuesday and Thursday, offering a convenient connection to Incheon Airport in South Korea. This route will be commencing this month from December 26, facilitated by Asiana’s state-of-the-art A350-900 aircraft, with departure from Melbourne at 10 pm and arrival in Seoul the following morning. As a convenient stopover spot for those looking to travel to Europe or the US, Asiana Airlines has opened up new opportunities for travellers looking to book in an already saturated travel destination market.

Melbourne Airport’s head of aviation, Jim Parashos, emphasised the significance of this new direct service, noting that it provides a hassle-free option for travellers and exporters, eliminating the need for connecting flights through other cities to reach South Korea. The seasonal service is expected to garner popularity between both destinations for Australian and Korean tourists which will hopefully in turn, make this seasonal initiative to regular year-round flights in future.

This announcement also comes at a time when Melbourne Airport is poised to become the first in Australia to surpass its pre-pandemic international capacity. International traffic in October 2023 reached 95% of 2019 levels, a 47% increase in comparison to October 2022. Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus commended the team for achieving these promising results and highlighted the significance of the coming month for the airport’s continued recovery. Argus noted that Melbourne is on track to exceed 2019 international seat numbers ahead of forecast and ahead of other Australian airports. This higher capacity is expected to translate into lower prices for consumers, and with an average daily international flight contributing $154 million a year to the Victorian economy, the news bodes well for the state's economic outlook.

In a significant development for travellers between Melbourne and Seoul, Asiana Airlines is set to launch seasonal flights, offering a direct and convenient connection. As the anticipation for this exciting service grows, there is a great opportunity for travellers to look into Seoul as a stopover location during their journey to get to Europe or the US.
