It’s been another big week with airlines announcing new flight routes and new aircraft. Take a look into Delta’s new nonstop Los Angeles to Brisbane service, the recently opened Singapore Airlines Perth SilverKris lounge, plus Qantas’ New Airbus A220s are replacing their old Boeing 717’s for some Australian routes.

Delta Introduces New Flight Routes To Brisbane

Increasing up to 17 weekly flights to the South Pacific, Delta has announced a nonstop service to Brisbane. Its latest international route is set to commence from 4 December 2024 with nonstop flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Brisbane Airport (BNE).

This decision follows closely on the heels of American Airlines’ recent announcement of its own route from Dallas, scheduled to launch in October 2024. Delta’s seasonal route will operate three times a week from 4 December 2024 through to 8 March 2025.

The flights will be served by the airline’s flagship Airbus A350-900s, capable of accommodating 306 passengers across four cabins, including the luxurious Delta One Business Class. With a fully flat bed, a lumbar pillow and comfortable bedding, hours spent in the sky will fly past - ensuring a heightened travel experience from Brisbane to Los Angeles.

With increased travel opportunities available through this new flight path, travellers flying ex. Brisbane to LAX, will have access to more than 40 destinations through connection at Los Angeles International Airport.

New Singapore Airlines Perth SilverKris Lounge

The New Singapore Airlines Perth SilverKris Lounge has just opened with more space, a new location, enhanced facilities and a range of new dining options for passengers.

Boasting twice the size of the original SilverKris Lounge in Perth International Airport, and replacing the former Qantas International Business Lounge, Singapore Airlines has made its mark in enhancing the travel experience for passengers.

Located opposite Gate 52 after passing through duty free, colourful flowers displayed on the glass make it a warm and on-brand entrance into the lounge. With a seated capacity of 135 passengers, the lounge provides varied, comfortable seating with half of the seating designed in a cafe-styled layout - highlighting the food and dining experience provided in this lounge.

With a buffet and live cooking station, travellers will not be disappointed - a range of desserts, hot dishes, Singaporean-inspired meals, finger food and more is available during their opening hours (3:50-6:20, 10:50-13:30, 14:30-17:10, 22:10-24:50).

The New Singapore Airlines Perth SilverKris Lounge has tenders which can serve anything from barista made coffee to cocktails (depending on your preferences). There is also champagne, wine and craft beer available.

With the airline’s significant expansion plan in Australia well underway, it’s evident that the new Singapore Airlines Perth SilverKris Lounge is poised as a top contender for the title of the best International Business Class Lounge in Perth and across the broader Singapore Airlines Australian Network.

Qantas’ New QantasLink Airbus A220

Commencing from 1 March 2024, the latest A220s will take flight for some Australian commercial flights, aiming to eventually replace the older Qantas Boeing 717 aircraft over time.

With 29 Airbus A220-300s ordered by the Australian carrier, the aircraft will initially fly between Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane and then Melbourne and Hobart from July.

With a total of 137 seats, including 10 Business Class seats with a 2-2 configuration, the new aircraft is a nice upgrade with a more modern cabin, bigger windows and larger lavatories.

The Business Class section consists of 2.5 rows with a 2-2 seat layout, 37 inches of pitch and 5 inches of recline. USB-A and USB-C charging is available, plus wireless charging pads, a six-way adjustable headrest, calf rest and a footrest. The 10 seats also have a bottle holder with an extendable cocktail table and the tray table has a built-in tablet holder for your entertainment device.

The new interiors look nice and provide a good upgraded option for those travelling with domestic add-ons to their international Business Class long-haul flights.
